We were watching Julie & Julia the other night and even though she doesn’t make anything vegan, it really got me into the mood to bake!
Cooking is an art. Baking is a science.
I have definitely increased my collection of baking supplies over the years but there are definitely some things I KNOW I need to make baking that much more enjoyable! I’ve listed 9 items I personally believe every baker should have to make their home a batter place. See what I did there?
1. The Holy Grail of Mixers
Anyone who has even thought for a second about baking has dreamt about these babies at least once. I mean, who doesn’t want a fancy, shiny mixer in a funky color? Who am I if my mixer’s color doesn’t represent my personality?! I am a green apple mixer and I am proud of it!
2. Sift all the Things!
I don’t actually own one of these, and I sure wish I did. One time I tried making icing with powdered sugar and I didn’t sift it. Lumpy icing is not as appetizing, believe me.
You can get this one here for $10.50
3. Mixing Bowls
One time, I used a Tupperware container as a mixing bowl. It worked- sort of. It would probably be helpful AND easier to just have a beautiful non slip set of stainless steel mixing bowls!
4. Measuring Cups & Spoons Set
Why is KitchenAid so adorable? I would love to have these cute little guys in my kitchen helping me make the best darn cookies I can! Especially since we have probably three spoons and one measuring cup.
You (and I) can get these cuties here for $13.91
5. Food Processor
So one day I went into Home Goods and I saw this cute food processor for $20.00. I thought it was SUCH a good deal. So, I brought it home with the intention to make some PB cookies that night. I take it out of the box, and I managed to find the world’s smallest food processor in existence. I still made the cookies, even though it took 6 batches. Now I have this exact food processor and it’s AMAZING! I highly recommend!
You can get yours here for $23.99
6. Roll Out
You have to admit that for a rolling pin, this is kind of neat. It comes with adjustable rings so you can keep an even thickness in whatever you’re rolling! This is perfect for someone who is a perfectionist and really wants even cookies!
7. Hand Mixer
I know those enormous KitchenAid mixers can be super bulky, especially if you don’t have the space. That’s where the hand mixer comes in! A step up from using the old whisk and elbow grease, but still small enough to fit in a cupboard!
Get one of these colorful mixers here for $22.99
8. Cooling Rack
This is definitely one of those things I think every baker should have. Sure, you can keep your cookies on the sheet on top of the stove like 90% of us do, but how fancy would you look with this cooling rack! Plus, it keeps your pastries from baking on top of the hot sheet!
9. Bakeware Set
You can’t really bake without one of these so why buy one when you can buy the whole set and be done with it?! This is a great starter kit, but I would definitely start buying fancier ones once I started to get comfortable and more knowledgeable with baking!
You can get this non-stick set here for $45.00
Whether you’re thinking about baking or have already started, I definitely think these are must-have items any baker should have!
What else should be included in the list?
