I absolutely love Asian food! Chinese take out is the best, but it’s incredibly hard to find vegan take-out food! I found this recipe for a chickpea version of the General Tso’s *insert lame meat here*. If you’d like to try it out for yourself the recipe is from Healthier Steps!
The ingredients for this recipe are: chickpeas, liquid aminos (or soy sauce!), lemon juice, tapioca starch ( I used corn), coconut oil (I used canola), garlic, ginger, water, sugar, and sesame oil.
So I followed most of the recipe correctly, but I ended up adding extra aminos to the sauce and some teriyaki sauce. I don’t think the sauce was tangy enough, honestly. It didn’t taste like other General Tso’s sauces I’ve had.
I used a little bit of ginger powder in the marinade, because I just never have fresh ginger. It was pretty good, but I think I’d like to try different versions of this before I choose my favorite one!
If you try this recipe, let me know what you think!
